Sharath Kamal Achanta and Georgina Pota, both players supported by Killerspin, make notable progress on the World Ranking lists published by the International Table Tennis Federation on Friday 2nd July 2010.

Certainly it is good news for Sharath Kamal Achanta, whose main goal in 2010 must be to defend his prestigious Commonwealth Games Men’s Singles crown, a title he won in the Australian city of Melbourne in 2006.

In October, New Delhi will be the home for the Commonwealth Games and the 29 year old Indian champion will be the focus of attention.

The elevation in the rankings is a direct result of a fine performance at the Indian Open in June.

Achanta beat Korea’s Han Ji Min and Jung Young Sik plus the third seeded German, Patrick Baum, to reach the semi-finals of the Men’s Singles event; before the latter’s colleague and eventual champion, Dimitrij Ovtcharov, halted further adventures.

Equally it is good news for Georgina Pota, who now has her eyes set on Ostrava in the Czech Republic in September, the home for the Liebherr European Championships.

Undoubtedly, she will be a vital cog in her country’s search for honours.

She excelled at the Liebherr World Team Championships in Moscow in May being a vital member in Hungary’s eventual seventh place.
